it breaks my heart to see what this once amazing program is going to be like in another 6 months to a year. i used to be a Zbrush fanboy, but after the Buyout, not anymore sadly. I would recommend Blender or 3DCoat over Zbrush in its current stateĪnyday of the week. especially since they add nearly nothing worth updating for. look up how much Cinema 4D Costs for its yearly updates. You can't even ask questions without being Barked at or outright Banned.ĪND knowing Maxon and how much they charge for updates, $600 or more for an "Update" wouldn't be unheard of. and there have been NO updates since before the program was "acquired" TLDR: the people who bought Zbrush are Ruining it, just as we feared. and since you'd be a new buyer, you'd need to pay for the update, by the way. they're saving any updates to paywall them, and god only knows how much it will cost to update. the people at Maxon have made sure this program hasn't got ONE. So no, Rent the program if you must, but do NOT buy it. when Maxon bought out Zbrush i asked Pixologic for a Refund and was told under NO uncertain terms would i be getting a refund, since i had bought the program 6 months before. you know what i got back in an email from them? even though i had bought the software a YEAR AGO, they was perfectly fine with giving me a FULL REFUND because i was irritated and frankly feeling hopeless towards learning the program. i was having issues with 3DCoat lately, regretting buying it. what used to be a company that cared about its users, and couldn't wait to release new updates has gobbled up by a big, evil company that is seemingly run strictly "No Nonsense" i simply asked if there was any update on how much the upgrade was going to cost/if there was any new updates even COMING anytime soon, and was met with and i kid you not "We'll announce the updates/pricing when we're ready to announce them" not "thanks for your interest but nothing yet" or "they're coming" in my eyes, simple kindness and tone go a LONG way. even how they respond to people asking simple questions has changed by leaps and bounds.
